All the references within books or travelogues fail to describe the vibe you get while in Rome. It’s rightly called an ethereal city, where time seems to stand still. The Romans really did know how to build things up. Every corner presents a magnificent building or a piazza. It’s like you’re Alice in an architecture Wonderland!
You really feel like stopping every 5 minutes and taking in the history, the beauty and this unexplainable calm you feel in Rome. We stayed in a hotel walking distance from the Colosseum. It was decent but a bit disappointing after the amazing experience at the Corinthia in Budapest. I think the city itself made up for this 🙂
After the 2 day trip to the Positano on the Amalfi coast, we relaxed on the first day back in Rome. But did manage to get a bit of culture in the next 4 days. Rome really took my heart away. Probably one of the most enchanting cities I’ve ever visited. I’ll back really really soon!
Writing this has made me go into a planning mode for my next adventure 😛
I spent the first day just walking around in Rome and taking in the city’s atmosphere.
Next day was spent in taking a guided tour of Colosseum and exploring the city on foot.
On the third day, continued on my exploration with a visit to the Roman Forum, Colosseum and Pantheon with a few other non-touristy corners. I was very lucky and got a chance to visit the Vatican city later that night. I have captured a few pictures from my visit to the Vatican here.
