Since the weather is getting warmer, I have been switching my food up a little bit. In winters, my breakfast mainly consisted of warm food like oatmeal or eggs. However, recently I have been experimenting with a few different recipes for a smoothie bowl to change things up.
There are tons of fancy smoothie bowl recipes for whom you need to source ingredients from different places, but I wanted to share a very simple recipe that can be made from just four ingredients.
What is a smoothie bowl?
A smoothie bowl is literally a smoothie served in a bowl. The only difference being that a smoothie bowl has a much thicker consistency, very similar to an ice-cream. That is the reason why it is served in a bowl and enjoyed with a spoon.
To be honest, smoothie bowls do taste like an ice-cream which is healthy and can be enjoyed for breakfast or as a snack. Now, who would not want that?
4-ingredient chocolate smoothie recipe
- 2-3 frozen bananas (depending how sweet you like your smoothies)
- 3/4th cup almond milk
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
Topping suggestions (optional)
- goji berries
- pumpkin seeds
- dried coconut flakes
Just blitz everything together in a blender and serve in a bowl. Top the smoothie with your choice of toppings and enjoy.
